Y'know what, fuck you, OP. I pirate all of my programs, and the reason is because I can't afford anything better. I worry daily about whether my family will have enough food to eat this week and where we'll go when/if we lose our home. Fandom is my escape from that. A few hours on the laptop relieves so much stress for me. So Photoshop and Word and whatever the hell else I use, I pirate, and I don't give a damn about your opinion of my work (because honestly, you don't seem like someone I'd want to associate with anyway).

Why pirate Word? I'm sure OpenOffice would do whatever you need, and it's legitimately free, and you can support open-source development by using it.

I'm not the anon you replied to, but I did pirate Word, and I can tell you why. I have a Mac, but the standard for things like college papers and resumes seems to be .doc, if you're submitting it electronically. Now, I actually use and write in Bean, OpenOffice and Pages (which is the iLife version of Word), but when they export to .doc, the formatting is often WAY WAY off. So I pirated Word purely so that I could double-check formatting.
