i ship spock/uhura and spock/mccoy but it gets annoying when i look at the slash side of the fandom and its like " dat whore raped him in the turbolift! "

its like... what? how is she a whore? where does... what? why... why so much misogyny, ladies? why?

i can't even enjoy myself in fandom with these ships without having to shake my head at it all :(

If you read the novelization (or listen to it, ZQ reads it :D) of the new movie, it actually gives more basis to the Spock/Uhura ship. Or at least gives them more interaction and stuff. I think the relationship in the movie was set up pretty well, honestly, but that it lacked that initial 'spark' to let people know that they were supposed to be dating (before the turbolift scene).

I mean, being able to boss a VULCAN around should give a pretty fantastic impression of their relationship, but apparently not. Fangirls...

(And they're not all like that, trust me, I'm not.)

I never thought they dated before turbolift scene.. That way, it`s a student-teacher fling that I just cannot work my mind around seeing as it is Spock ffs, and he is not even emotionally compromised at that point. It`s just... ugh. No. I really love TOS Uhura, I think I`ll just stick to it.

And, by the way, "bossing around" is nothing good in a relationship.. whether it comes from a girl or a boy.

I ship Kirk/McCoy and Spock/Uhura so it works out great for me :) I don't get the hate toward her in the turbolift scene. She raped him? She's a whore? Really? That's so ridiculous.
