Could very well be why. I started reading the manga around when Sailor Moon was playing on TV, sometime near 2000, so I was experiencing both at the same time. Oh! And I read the SuperS manga way before SuperS came out in the states, so my experience was akin to someone reading a novel before a movie adaptation comes out, you know?
