I think a lot of the time it's not loyalty but just taste. If you genuinely like one pairing it sometimes makes you not enjoy others with those same people (or maybe you just don't care for those pairings anyway).

Aww, OP. I love best friendships in fiction and think the whole relationship between two best friends is awesome, and that losing one would be awful... I've had one bestfriendship fall apart and it waan't fun. Anyway, I usually don't like "best friend" ships, like H/Hr or whatever, but I like some of them (like Jim/Pam).. anyway, I guess you should try to move on from that one relationship but if you like the idea of bffs falling in love, ship away, and hopefully you'll find a best friend to fall in love with soon. :)

I thought this was pretty well documented back when the first movie came out? I mean, news this is not, and only Oliver Stone was surprised when he wasn't seen as the villain. I went to college with TONS of guys who wanted to work on Wall Street and become him. (And man, were they pissed when the market crashed while we were still at school.)
