So, if you know the technique but you're not an amazing artist then you are a pretentious little brat? I'm pretty bad at drawing but I believe the basics can be learned from tutorials like this. The goal is to overcome the master, isn't?

I know enough about drawing fundaments and technique so sometimes I help my friends when they need refine their artwork. That makes me someone who need to know it's place? It is so bad to have some knowledge and share it with someone that maybe CAN refine it?

I bet that at least 80% of the people that wrote something in this secret is worst than the girl who made that tutorial. Seriously people, if you think a tutorial is bad then ignore it. DA is the nest of tons of tutorials. Even a child can see what is appropiate to use and what not but, if not, then all the world is screwed.

The basics? Maybe. But you'll be learning a boatload of bad habits to go with those basics, some of which you will learn wrong from bad tutorials. And when you learn your basics wrong, you have a flawed foundation to begin from.

It's not that being a mediocre-to-poor artist makes you a pretentious brat...just that being a mediocre-to-poor artist who doesn't know the technique trying to teach other people as if you do it...problematic. And yeah, that artist...she doesn't know the technique. She knows what she saw someone else do, sort of maybe, and figured out a way to make a photocopy of a photocopy of that technique. No soap. She's pretending to have knowledge that she doesn't have, and sharing her bad habits. That's irritating (I wouldn't say offensive. I just find it stupid. Or childish. Which is probably more the case).

The goal is not to overcome the master. Why on earth would that ever be the goal of art? Even in a competitive field, it's not so much about being better than everyone else, it's about constantly growing and improving yourself to become the best at what you do.
