Aww, OP. I love best friendships in fiction and think the whole relationship between two best friends is awesome, and that losing one would be awful... I've had one bestfriendship fall apart and it waan't fun. Anyway, I usually don't like "best friend" ships, like H/Hr or whatever, but I like some of them (like Jim/Pam).. anyway, I guess you should try to move on from that one relationship but if you like the idea of bffs falling in love, ship away, and hopefully you'll find a best friend to fall in love with soon. :)

I feel like there are two schools of BFF shipping, because I feel the same way you do. Ships like H/Hr could not be more boring and chemistry-less if they tried, but Jim/Pam (early J/P, I don't care for them much anymore) I adored.

And I think J/P worked for me because their friendship was born out of Jim's desire for Pam. He went out of his way from day one to be cute and sweet with her/find things they had in common because he wanted her attention and for her to wake up and realize he's the guy for her. Their friendship was all but built on romantic chemistry, which is why I would ship them and couples like them. Fictional BFF that are built on a strong platonic relationship with little chemistry otherwise, I find myself bored with the idea of anything more (Gale/Katniss from the Hunger Games for example, who--to answer your question--I think the left picture is in the secret).

Thank. you. I love BFFs shipping but Harry and Hermione actually make me feel depressed. Not even sure why but just the thought of them breaks my heart. ._.

Yeah, I know what you mean... like, I usually don't think of myself as a "canon shipper", but to ship a bff pairing, they have to have canon romantic attraction and stuff; I can't ship a pair of bffs that consider themselves platonic, I just can't.
Although, I don't think Harry/Hermione is as horrible as everyone makes it out to be-- it's only really boring when you make them into Super!Hermione and Super!Harry and Dumbass!Ron who only exists to run off with BatshitInsane!Luna and EvilSlut!Ginny who only exists to be with LeatherPants!Draco or BumblingIdiot!Neville. If you take Harry and Hermione's real personalities and real flaws and don't put them on a pedestal, I find Harry/Hermione pretty cute, actually. I don't actively ship it, but I think it's sort of cute, in a non-steamy, innocent kind of way.

Yeah, I know what you mean. :\ I LOVE close-friends-first pairings. I am not exactly a Twilight fan, at all, but if I had to pick I'd be Team Jacob, because at least they were sweet for a while first.

You do realize that not all best friends fall in love? That relationships don't just keep evolving until you're in love and dating? So the whole "fell apart before we had the chance to fall in love" part is strange.

Hmm, this is sort of sad, but you know, not all friendships, even close ones, end up in something more.

It sounds like you ready fell in love with your best friend, otherwise you wouldn't care that nothing ever happened. Not all he's friends fall in love just because you put the time in together. I did date my best friend in high school and it was the stupidest thing we could have ever done. We confused an amazing platonic relationship for more (because it had to be more~! Guys and girls cant just be friends like this~!). Looking back that was a mistake of simply being young and thinking that you can't possibly have that sort of a connection someone without it being romantic.

Well, you can. And in my case, it definitely wasnt worth losing over a lame attempt at dating and being romantic.

If you like to ship best friends, why not something like (referencing the pics you listed, so I get the gist of what you're reading) Ron/Hermione, where as least the ship fits the BFF to lovers mold and gets the happy ending?

Or, is it that you don't necessarily ship best friends, you ship the best friends you know won't happen? I ask because you listed three ships--two of which that were blatantly teased, but clearly displayed as not being endgame in their stories--and one that didn't even give you the teasing part, it just never was. It makes me wonder if you just enjoy the safety of best friend ships that you know will never happen since that's what happened to you.

Better people will come into your life. Don't get hung up on the one you lost. It's not worth the hurt.

See, I have a condition on when I ship friends: I can't ship "only friends." If they have no other obvious social connections, I can't ship them, cause (personal experience) romantic relationships really tank friendships. If it's like a group of friends, sure whatever, but otherwise...just no. ):

Having a friendship fall apart because of romantic stuff getting entangled is even worse. You might regret not having the chance, but you should realize you were probably spared a lot worse pain in the long run.

Completely irrelevant to what you're saying, but I'd ship H/Hr in the movies, but not the books. Only because Dan and Bonnie have pretty much zero chemistry and it makes it painful to watch.
