Same here. I thought it was way too serious and only really liked the parts with Timon and Puumba.
I loved 1 1/2 though. I can relate to two doofy outcast and their friendship way more than a prince.
*is completely aware just how unpopular an opinion this is*

(seriously, I get that objectively speaking TLK is a beautiful movie; I like the music and animation a lot. It just wasn't my cup of tea story-wise. No offense meant.)

I like The Lion King so much that I'm afraid to question how other people *couldn't* like it. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons - and I've heard many people say they don't really like it either - but I've loved it for so long that I feel like my faith in the world will be shaken if I realise it's not that good. Or something.

Lion King is an amazing movie, but it's not my favorite either. My favorite growing up was Swan Princess and hell it still is.

The Lion King was a very dear part of my childhood. I watched it a dozen times as a kid, had a giant Simba (well, it was either adult Simba or Mufasa, I honestly could never tell) stuffed animal, had a poster and just generally loved the movie. When I was really little, around four or so, I wasn't very good at describing my feelings, so when it came to talking about why I didn't like watching the stampede scene where Mufasa died, all I could say was that it was, "scary." My dad didn't understand how it was scary, and to be honest, I wasn't scared of it, either. I was just extraordinarily saddened, and didn't know how to express that.

Anyway, TL;DR, I have a lot of emotional attachments to this movie, and I love singing "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and especially "Be Prepared" and feeling all badass. But if you don't like it, that's okay. At least you know what it is. Never have I felt such horror when someone told me that they didn't know who Zazu or Nala were. xD;
