But none of the RvB characters have that strong a Texas accent! I mean, Church and Tex have a little bit of one, but not that much.

isn't that what Sarge has? to me, he sounds almost exactly like Murdock from the A-Team, who is from Texas.

What Sarge has is a broad parody of a Deep South redneck accent. While there are some people in East Texas who have that accent, it's not the real Texas accent; you're more likely to find it in Alabama.

oh, I see! I always thought that was a Texas accent, since that's also how Sandy sounds. and my Texas accent routine always includes calling people "suuuuuuuuuuuun" like Sarge does.

Hollywood gets accents wrong all the time; I wouldn't worry about it. If I had a nickel for every time I've heard an actor doing a bad Kentucky hillbilly accent for a character from Georgia or the Carolinas, I could buy, well, not a house, but probably a nice gazebo.

Heh, I know how that feels. I've picked up certain turns of phrase from Brian Jacques' work, particularly a habit of saying "Yerss, yerss indeedy!" I also realised a while back that when I'm singing along to the Decemberists I sometimes drop into a Jacques' vermin accent. If Colin Meloy actually sounded like that I'd understand why I did that, but he doesn't ...

I actually did write a Sue-parody fanfic based on one of their songs with a dash of Twilight mixed in. I called it "Cullin' of the Fold". Geddit?

"The Chimbley Sweep" also sounds good with a corsair accent. I always feel guilty about liking that song, given that it uses child abuse to set up a bad pun, but it's so catchy ...
