Well, it bugs me because I think a huge part of what makes Crowley and Aziraphale so interesting as characters and as a duo is that one's a demon, one's an angel, and they're not really that very different. It's proven over and over in the book that they're really very similar and neither is inherently much better than the other, and the wings are part of that- same wings on the angel and the demon, they aren't so different after all.
