I was never in the ATLA fandom but...

it always irks me to see spoiled fan brats/smug shippers (in ANY fandom).

Things like this are the reason why I prefer ships not becoming endgame canon.

My niece watched ATLA. IMO there shouldn't have been any romance. They were all too young! I mean really. Who finds the love of their life at that age? :/

I know. I was kinda ticked that they meant for Aang and Katara to marry. UM, 13 YEAR OLD. If they give us a back story of how they separate, explore themselves emotionally and then come back and get together, then I might be able to buy into Aang/Katara.

Consider Zuko is old enough to be Fire Lord at 16 and the Avatar assumes his/her duties at 16, it's safe to say that people became adults a lot sooner than people in our society do. So meeting the person you're going to marry at 12-16 isn't really that big a stretch. For example, Roku meets his future wife years before he assumes his Avatar duties at 16.

It's just that if they can live for so long, it seems like they wouldn't need to marry so early.

I think canon implies that they do so that why I don't see a problem with Katara and Aang.
