To them Jesus would be more important than a band member, that's not the issue. The issue is they can't see that someone else than a religious figure might be more important in someone else's life as a role model. Because if religion might not even be an element for the person that that guy "saved", he might be more important to them than Jesus Christ, because Jesus Christ would be irrelevant to their lives.
Which makes a band member and Jesus equally random figure to attribute "being saved by" to.
