lol I definitely believe you. I was just saying that the reason I don't see it is because I'm not so much into the social parts of fandom, and definitely not the snark comms or the spork things. I just go in, talk about the latest episode, maybe read some meta essays, save some fanarts to my fanart folder and that's about it. Yeah occasionally there might be some sort of weird flamewar but that happens everywhere on the internet.

So when I first read this secret I just assumed he was fed up with all the gay stuff that is everywhere in Hetalia fandom in particular and female fandoms in general (assumed the author was male because guys tend to get more annoyed by slash than women). "Backstabbing catty bitches" never even crossed my mind like it did for some of the people here, because like I said, I didn't even know how a fandom backstab would work. And of course cattiness is everywhere on the web--I'd go so far as to say the guys are more cattier than the girls when it comes to the internet, but as the cattiest people are anon it can be hard to tell.

I knew a girl in real life who claimed she couldn't be friends with other girls besides me, because she was so hurt in the past by the girls at her school. She eventually sort of grew out of it as her own emotional wounds healed, but for a long time she was totally cut off socially. Its sort of sad if this was also the case with OP. I'm sticking by my "bitter straight guy pissed off with slash" theory because its not half so depressing.

I wrote a lot more than I meant to, you just got me thinking some.

But yeah, I kind of want to believe it was a straight male fan who came into Hetalia fandom hoping for historyfags but got BL fangirls instead...;; That's a lot less sad.
