Hey, Charlie Sheen - stop listening to the voices in your head for a minute and go back and read the fucking question. I asked how you felt about about canon gay characters for fanworks. You know, like Kurt from Glee?

Way to turn jumping to conclusions into an Olympic event. That was inappropriate to direct at me. Forget the question - I HAVE your answer. ::shudder::

You're still not getting it; I don't care what you think of sexuality itself. (Which is why I was pissed off at your initial reply - don't yell at me if other commenters are dogpiling you for that.) I'm asking - STILL - what you think of canonically gay characters being portrayed as gay in fan media. Your original comment suggests all fictional characters are straight, but they're not; some are stated gay or bisexual.

I see what you're saying with that clarification; your original comment only had about half of what you needed to say, IMHO. But I think people just like what they like and for different reasons. As a writer I like to be able to say "I think they could be gay and this could happen because of this interaction and this vibe I got from them, and THIS event in the storyline" - but not every fanfic writer feels the need to be able to justify it that way. (For the record, all the pairings I've written, I can point to canon and say "this is what inspired this" even if it didn't happen in canon, gay or straight. And it usually takes a pretty heavy vibe for me to be interested enough to write fic in the first place, since I've only written in a handful of fandoms in 19 years.)
