Have you considered that maybe they recognized you, even with your false identity?
You'd be surprised how easy it is to recognize someone's writing style, no matter how "changed".

That said, it's admirable you've gone so far to be able to reach out to them again, but sometimes you're doing more harm than good. I don't get angry or hold grudges easily, at all, so when I'm over someone? I'm over them.
