It can be problematic (it reinforces the separation of female gamers as "different"), but I have trouble criticizing it when it's often a reaction to female gamers being reduced to their gender/looks (which is why some women choose not to let on when they're female when playing online in the first place):

"Dudebro" male gamers who make misogynistic comments about women playing games ("Tits for GTFO", "Get back in the kitchen") ->
"Gamer Girl" types who try to gain acceptance by adopting their own variation of "dudebro" behavior ("Halo/FPSs/etc. are the only REAL games and girls who play anything else aren't REAL gamers, and PSSSH why are you offended by being sexually harassed for playing online as a girl YOU NEED THICKER SKIN.")
