Me, I think the manga got a lot better after that certain character died. Not the fandom, though.

Which one? Given I haven't gotten around to reading the manga yet, but character deaths in the anime didn't happen until the very end...

Well, the anime sort of went its own way with the story. (I didn't finish it so I don't know exactly what happened in it...)

The ending part was basically...Miharu and Yoite are captured and held hostage to awaken the shinra-bansho. Everyone comes to save them, but Raiko ends up getting killed in the process by Hattori. Miharu then starts to active the shinra-bansho.

Yukimi ends up getting hurt, and Hattori baits Yoite, so he ends up killing him by accident. Miharu gets his memories back from Tobari, but still actives the s/b completely-but is stopped by his mother. He wakes up in the hospital and is told Yoite is missing. Yukimi/Tobari find Yoite, and Tobari tells Miharu where he is.

Miharu finds Yoite, who wants to die instead for his sins. Miharu then gives him a long talk/Yoite decides to live/Miharu refuses to ever use the s/b-blahblah. The last scene is of Yoite fading away into...glittery dust, and Miharu saying he'd always remember him.

The anime follows the manga pretty closely until roughly episode 15. Everything after that is 95% different than the manga. I do recommend you read it, though. It's much better than the anime (except for the ending, which I'm still bitter about...)

The fact that people left the Nabari fandom after he died is just.

It's part of the story. If you were only reading for the OMGHOMO I don't know what to tell you.

That was when I just couldn't read on any farther. I had been crying my heart out since the whole Raimei/Raikou thing, for some unknown reason, but when Yoite died... nope, I couldn't go on.

I should probably read the whole thing now, methinks.
