I agree that you're kind of missing the idea of the game if you go 'fuck these new Pokémon I'm stickin' with mah bros', but eh, each to their own, I suppose!

(But the new Pokémon are cool I just don't understand. D:)

I never understood Gen V hate. Then again, I never understood Gen III hate, either. Those are honestly my favourite gens in terms of pokemon.

Well, sans Stunfisk.

Actually, my only complaint is the lack of very many water pokemon. It's either Carracosta or Samurott, really. I'd use a previous gen poke for that.

This was pretty much my only problem with Gen V until I found Jellicent. Simipour is also apparently pretty good.

I never understand any gen-hate. The only thing I have honestly hated in any game? The Gen III endgame. It made me want to never Surf again.
