A lot of models are just average when you take away all the make-up and lighting and teams of stylists and experts. Or at least that's what Tyra Banks has taught me.

I think the same about actors and other famous entertainment people.

[identity profile] jlh.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was going to say, first, lots of models need making over before they're camera-ready. That's why really good model scouts are in demand; they can see the potential even in a girl with weird hair and bad makeup.

But I think mostly you're reacting to Bardot not looking iconic rather than not looking pretty. You can say the same for early pics of Marilyn Monroe before she went blonde and changed her name. She was still a very pretty girl, but she didn't look like Marilyn Monroe. And in fact in the early 60s, shortly before she died, when she was wearing less makeup and looser hair, she looked pretty different, too.

Everyone knows you're not an old white guy!

Maybe my eyes are borked but I think she has pretty fabulous features.

I've never thought she was pretty, and that make-up and hair do her no favors (neither does her personality).

[identity profile] helenadax.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I think she was gorgeous.

[identity profile] resounding-echo.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously? Are you also one of those people who think Norma Jean was average-to-plain and Marilynn a knock-out?

Since when do peroxide and eyeliner define beauty? :shakes head:

OP

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I've always thought Norma Jean was as beauty as Marilyn!

...Have you just discovered that some people look better with makeup

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Pfff, seriously. I mean, isn't that the reason why make-up exists in the first place?

[identity profile] gabzillaz.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously

[identity profile] lurksinclosets.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Talent, goals, attitude, and hard work are the key to success in ANY career. Looks take the backseat for even models and actors/actresses. You look at any famous person and take away the makeup, hair, and lighting, they're gonna look average or even ugly.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
haha, I hate that style of hair and makeup, actually.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You may need to fix this absolute association of makeup with beauty, OP.
Because here is a hint: people are not their makeup.

[identity profile] justspaz.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she may have been beautiful or not, but inside? Her anti-Islam remarks just are ugly.

[identity profile] iteari.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
And let's not forget the anti-gay remarks she stated and then proceeded to defend with the typical "I have gay friends!" rhetoric..

[identity profile] dudette-in-town.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Brigitte Bardot is an anti-Islamist?

[personal profile] meadowphoenix 2011-03-27 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Frankly, I think "average" people are beautiful. Besides, modeling has more to do with aesthetics than attractive beauty, just so you know.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I actually think darling BB was more beautiful the more natural she was.

[identity profile] homette.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
that's because you're comparing her fake pretty self to her real pretty self
you like fake more, and that's okay. lol jk that's fucked, you should look into that, seriously

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
But...why? Some people like fake. It's a preference. Who are you to tell them it's fucked?

Seriously, in a place where people regularly defend finding animated characters hot, there are also people who think that liking make up and dyed hair over a natural look = fucked up. Only in F!S.

I like her "before" pictures as much as her blond look. They're just not as iconic.
And it doesn't matter because she's still a crazy racist bitch.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-28 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, I've always thought Bardot was unattractive, but I could still see the sexiness.
