I've never cared either way for Kat, but that just made me dislike her. Annie found out her existence was the reason her mother died, I highly doubt Kat would have taken it any better. It smacks of fair-weather friend to me, tbh. Not to mention utterly selfish on Kat's part.

Your friends are people, not personal therapists. She wasn't saying she didn't want to be Annie's friend, she was just telling her she was upset after Annie ran off on her and an entire summer of plans. I don't blame either of them.

Annie never asked Kat to be her 'personal therapist'. Kat is a poor friend to think her problems (Wahhhh, I was alone on vacation, wahhh) was worse than Annie's (Her mother freaking DIED because she EXISTS)

I feel no sympathy for Kat. She's a selfish tart. And dangling Annie around the way she has? I can't stand her even more.

And it's not the way she feels-It's the way she said it, coupled with the coulder shoulder. At least Annie apologized to Kat, for oh, having a bit of a breakdown. Kat just didn't have company for summer break.

Um I don't read the thing but from what I'm getting here... expecting your friend to give you time during a frickin mental crisis is a human thing to expect. If you think that's being a "personal therapist" then... just. wut.

Well, the thing is Annie ran away without even giving Kat a *chance* to be there for her. Annie had her freakout, ran away from the court, and then arbitrarily decided to spend the whole summer in the Forest. Kat never got a chance to talk to her, and spent the whole summer being worried about her friend.

So yes, perhaps Kat is being a little unreasonable, but I don't blame her for having mixed emotions.

Oh wow, that does change things. I can actually sympathize with Kat now --and relate. Sheesh. Yeah, me neither.

What anon above neglected to mention, is that the 'freak out' she had was caused by learning-in one instance-that her very existence was the reason her mother died. And her mother didn't die quickly, either. Annie grew up in a hospital watching her mother slowly die, and she then had to take her to the afterlife because no one else would touch her.

And then-the court, the place she has been living the passed few years after her mother died and her father abandoned her-she learned they had been lying to her the entire time. That includes Kat's parents.

Annie escaped to the forest to sort things out, because Coyote hadn't lied to her (yet) It wasn't 'arbitrary'-The forest offered her a place away from the court and a way to get a hold of her emotions.

Kat was told why she was at the forest. The fact she couldn't give her friend a few months alone after learning all that? Yeah, saying what she said was just a tad bit selfish on her part.
