I thought Kat's reaction was completely understandable. Especially for a young teenage girl. Even if she knows that Annie just had a huge bomb dropped on her, it's likely her feelings were hurt by the fact she had to hear it from someone else. Kat has sympathy for Annie, but I'm sure there's still some feelings of "Well, why did she run off to Coyote? I thought I was her best friend, am I not good enough for her? She barely even knows Coyote, why would she want to talk to him instead of me?" lingering about. Especially coupled with the way Annie can act very... 'above it all' I suppose, or maybe aloof is a better way to describe it. I think Kat just got her feelings hurt and is having an awkward time dealing with it.
