Oh, OP, why? I don't even mean that maliciously, I just sincerely can't understand why a fan of the show would like the anime. Sam isn't too bad but Dean is a poor parody of himself only dumber and more thuggish, and I don't even want to get into the atrocious things done to Bobby, Missouri, and the others.

Plus they cut out so much of the good stuff! I tried to like the anime, I really did, but the character designs all around (except for Sam, they did okay there) were so offputting. I tried to like it even despite that but the way they mishandled the retelling of the storyline.... Ugh.

I haven't been this disappointed with an anime adaptation since the original TRC anime came out.

I don't know what the hell the makers were thinking, but they have dumbed the series down so it's most basic. It's as though they though "IF AMERICA BUTCHERS OUR ANIMES, WE'LL BUTCHER YOUR TV SHOWS. MWAHAHAHA!"

I liked it too. I hope the characterisation will get a bit better, but everything else is great.

It helps that I view it kind of separately from the show. I don't expect anything (except good animation) and I'm not disappointed.

I was also quite thankful that they fleshed out Jess's character and explored her relationship with Sam more. I was wondering all the time why fandom thought Jess was so great. Oh, sure, I thought she was sweet and everything, but not much more.

I'm sort of disappointed I don't like it more. I was hoping that it would be good, or at least so bad it's good - but imo it's really not terrible enough for comedy. It's just a little bit mediocre, I think.
