As have I, but that is a case of the concept being used to bully. If a hammer is used to murder someone, that does not make hammers any less useful! The concept has been a great deal of use to lots of people, especially people who have to overcome other difficulties in life. Please do not dismiss the whole idea because of the nasty actions of a few proponents. :)

Still, it carries a negative connotation. I definitely see what you mean, but I still have to say that more often than not, because of the way it's been used, calling someone privileged can be taken offensively.

Just as "lucky" can carry a negative connotation, or it can be a simple factual description. You're an intelligent human being; you don't need to reject a word because it's nuanced, for crying out loud.

The problem in this specific forum lies not in the word itself, or even its use in general; you've raised some very good points, but in this comm, it's almost always used as a guilt hammer to try and shut people up :/
