If it makes you feel any better, OP, I decided to give Eyeshine a shot because Johnny Yong Bosch is the lead singer. Turns out that I really ended up enjoying their music.

I met Chris at a con, and we've talked a few times on Facebook, too (his statuses are usually FILLED with responses, so it's hard to get a word in edgewise sometimes, haha) and I get the feeling that he'd be really pleased to hear that you liked his music. Why don't you just give it a shot? No one can hear what you hear through your headphones, and if you really end up liking it, then hey -- that's just one more way in which you're supporting a voice actor you really like.

TL;DR: Don't be embarrassed, OP. Chances are, you aren't the only one and he'd appreciate the support. :)
