i know, that's the problem. she had indicated wanting more, had said she was into me but then said she was straight. she kept flirting til i got the hint, we hooked up a few times, then we stopped hanging out. we talk occasionally now but not about anything important.

Maybe she was just bicurious and then realized she wasn't really into women? I once thought I felt vaguely attracted to women, but after actually trying it I realized it was more on the level of 'oh, she's pretty' than 'oh, I wanna have sex with her'. Also, it's possible to flirt with someone and even date them for a while without being in love or having any interest in a serious relationship. Sometimes you just flirt and hook up a little to see how it goes. And sometimes you realize that you aren't all that interested in the person anymore.

I know it hurts when someone gives you hope and then dumps you. But it happens. It does not mean that your friend is in denial about your true love. Get over it.
