Anyone remember when the series suddenly got really fucking depressing, like with car accidents/deaths and then that crazy bitch Margot or w/e who wanted to kill one of the twins and take over her life?

I definitely remember someone dying because they OD'd on drugs. Which scared the shit out of Jessica, 'cause up til then, she'd been...curious!

Oh that's right! It was some allergic reaction to cocaine I think. It was one of their 'thriller' books before the entire SVH went depressing/emo I think.

I *think* I remember Margot...the SVH mystery "thrillers" were always surprisingly dark, with kidnappings and extortion and crazy shit. Baby-Sitters Club mysteries it was not.

I tried BBSC a couple times but SVH had spoiled me already LOL. I remember getting creeped out by some of their mysteries.

I do remember Margot, vaguely, but the one I really remember that I can't recall the title of is this one where the twins and their friends start a babysitting service or something, and the girls end up babysitting at a haunted house, and there's a mystery of some sort, and at one point their brother makes a lot of money mowing lawns and then promptly loses it all because he gets pulled over by a cop for riding the lawnmower down the road without a license. That was my first exposure to SVH and I want to reread it so bad.

Aha, but what you are forgetting is that Margot also had an evil twin (Nora). That's right, there were 4 girls in that universe who looked exactly alike, two of whom were evil and two of whom were perfect. Just like real life.

God, some days I want nothing more than to go back and re-read all of that awesome melodrama.

(I also shipped Bruce and Elizabeth, btw, and also Jessica with Elizabeth's long-forgotten boyfriend Jeffrey.)
