i'm sure that, after the flounce, they feel like they're worth the same amount of shit as you think they are right now. if not less. not that this is justification for their actions, but just saying. i've been there before and i've manned up now and i feel like a dumbass for doing it but it's always that first bit of ego that gets to you first, before you start thinking rationally.

so i understand, but at the same time i wish i didn't. :\

Author Jacqueline Howett just killed her professional career by responding to a negative review in a very bad way. No one felt sorry for her.

I was in fandom for nearly 10 years, but I don't remember readers responding to flouncing like this positively.

*shrug* Given the number of writers I know who are extraordinarily uncertain about their writing, no matter how positively they are reviewed under normal circumstances, this sort of thing doesn't really surprise me all that much.
