Dude, I cried when I finished Black, and I still think that's what GF was going for. I mean, "N's Farewell" is a piano version of the Love Theme from Mother 3. You can't get me to believe that wasn't on purpose. As if the ending itself isn't emotional enough for people who loved N as a character, what with him basically telling you that you changed him, he doesn't know what he's going to do now but he has to figure it out, goodbye, etc., they had to go in and add that music. I believe the scene wouldn't have been half as emotional without the music, and as such the emotions just got shoved into overdrive.

An interesting note, though -- there's a track called "N's Farewell ~Refrain~" on the soundtrack that I didn't hear anywhere in the game (maybe I just haven't gotten to it yet, but yeah). It's the same track, but much more uplifting rather than sad. This gives me hope for Pokemon Gray. =D

TL;DR: Don't be ashamed, OP. You're not alone. And as someone whose best friend constantly looks down on video games, please tell whoever tells you that you shouldn't get emotionally attached to fuck off. That's what I tell my BFF. Video games are even more adept at gripping me than movies, personally, because I'm interacting with them, rather than just staring mindlessly at the screen. Seriously, don't be ashamed at all. You are nowhere near alone.
