What does DDoS stand for?

It stands for Distributed Denial of Service attack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack). Basically they overwhelm the servers by having a number of computers work together to use up the resources/bandwidth so legitimate users cannot access them.

I believe it's Distributed Denial of Service. Thousands of computers spam the server with requests, and the server eventually gives up and everything crashes.
