Re: Ironic Icon Usage
(Anonymous) 2011-04-07 04:57 am (UTC)(link)The problem I've most often seen is when women are called bitches for being too ambitious or trying to get ahead in a 'man's world'. But that's not an issue with the word itself, it's the attitude that drives the insults. Complaining about the use of bitch is, in my opinion, missing the point and pushing focus onto the word instead of the attitude itself. Sexism doesn't go away just because you're not using a gendered insult to express it.
