hey, whatever makes you happy. This might just be a block, anyway. You're most used to writing when you're stressed and upset (and I guess getting your motivation from it?) that you're not used to writing in any other sorts of settings/moods. I'd suggest not giving up immeadiatly.

Trying writing a little at a time, if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. In any case, I'm glad things are better now.

*hugs* I had the same thing happen. For years I could only write when I was unhappy and struggling to cope. I just kept pushing myself to write and have 100s of unfinished fics that will never be finished. I can write now when things are going well, but it's still easiest when I'm miserable about something.

Just keep trying. It gets frustrating, but hopefully you can work through it

My problem isn't identical, but I have a similar one, so I know where you're coming from, OP. For me, it's that I only seem to feel inspired/get new ideas when I'm incredibly busy with other things, and then when I actually have free time... nothing. Which leads to me basically never writing anymore (I post a new one-shot maybe every 6+ months).

It's possible that someday you'll learn how to write when you're not under duress. Or maybe you'll only be able to write every once in a while, when there's more stress in your life than is usual for you these days. Either way, if it's something you still want to do, even if you only do it on rare occasions, I think you should stick with it. :)

Yup. Been there. Done that. Eventually you'll learn the trick of writing while you're happy. But in the meantime, enjoy the good stuff around you.

I know how you feel.

Even though I haven't written anything in almost three years, I'm still in the top ten most prolific writers at MNFF (and that count doesn't include the stuff I wrote that wasn't HP or didn't pass the mods because of ratings).

I got engaged, I got married and two months after I got married, I wrote my last 'real' piece of fiction.

I miss the writing, desperately (I used to cry) but having a husband and a daughter fills up my life in ways I was only able to dream about before.

I'm the opposite when it comes to fiction -- I'm useless at writing when I'm stressed.

But somehow I can only write poetry when I'm depressed. Which doesn't make for great poetry, but I guess it's therapeutic.
