Your feelings of being creeped out are appropriate. The picture is of two characters from Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It's an Indie survival/horror game where you can't fight the monsters chasing you at all--you have to run and hide from them. In the dark.

The one on the left is Alexander, an evil baron who tortures people to fuel his evil machine so he can get back to his own dimension. On the left is Daniel, who is tormented by the Shadow and who thinks Alexander is totally sweet and awesome for protecting him from it. And reciprocates by getting mildly brainwashed into helping him torture people.

So yes. You have exactly the right response.

Motherfuck, the one day I get to the secret post late there's an Amnesia secret.

Alexander has enough charisma to charm even those who know he's a torturous a-hole, so I don't think it's odd to find that scenario soothing. Then again I have some skewed standards of normality. Plus, yeah... dat voice.
