I have yet to see this. This is the second season right? I don't even remember if I ever finished the first. All I remember is he kisses her at the end of the series and that's how it ended....I think. Did this come in parts? Maybe I've only saw the first season part one.

... I always wondered, why did she cut it in the first place? I remember Kyon asked her about her weird pigtails and then she just showed up with short hair... were we supposed to get her motivation there, or was it just supposed to be like "Oh, it's Haruhi being Haruhi"?

I don't think we got her motivation there. It's been awhile since I read the first book, but from what I remember, Kyon just dismissed it as another weird aspect of Haruhi that he didn't quite get. The only time she changes her hair because of what he said, I think, is at the end of the first book when he tells her (in the alternate reality) that he has a thing for ponytails. The next day she comes to school with her hair in a ponytail, but ends up taking it down by the time they meet in the club room (I think).

Oh, and in Disappearance, he gets her to put her hair in a ponytail again when they sneak into their normal school (because he wasn't lying -- he really DOES like ponytails).

Other than that, I think her cutting her hair was just dismissed as a Haruhi thing.

I think it had to do with Kyon noticing the cycle. Once someone recognized what she was doing, she decided to be unpredictable and set off the trend. In a way, it showed to me that she recognized him and his words, not just a normal human being.

I agree about the uniform, but not about the hair. Generic long anime hair is generic.

Not particularly. I feel like there could be other ways to draw it in terms of shape and style, but I still see hair that's impossibly long and voluminous with jagged ends that I've seen in so many How to Draw Anime/Manga tutorials.

Agreed! When she first cut her hair (in the first episode lol) I was like DAYUM! You rock that, girl! Her normal hair looks fabulous AND is not the generic ass-length hair that nearly every anime girl has.

I kind of.... disagree. I mean, I'm more of a fan of shorter hair in real life anyway. Long hair can be very beautiful, but I think there's something about the way that shorter hair tends to frame the face that's very arresting.

Yes. Most definitely. Then again, I dislike Haruhi for the most part. Disappearance!Haruhi is the only version of her that I like.
