As long as it isn't the Doctor and first companion shipping in Dr Who is marvellous. For OneDoc it is just weird.

For myself, I find it difficult to ship the Doctor with any companion. However I think Eleven/Amy is the most squicky to me. I enjoy and understand Amy's canon one-sided crush but I think for Eleven Amy will always be Amelia. She's still that child and he's her imaginary friend in a fairy tale come true.

This. I fully understand Amy's crush but on Eleven's side...

He is downright paternal towards Amy at times. At the minimum, he acts like a very protective older brother. The idea of them together just feels so wrong and icky and a violation of his role with her.

So, can you only read G fics or no fic at all (because personally I don't see the difference between G and PG)?

But otherwise, you might just not want to read anyone else's interpretation of a truly romantic relationship because you like your headcanon. That's not terribly weird.

It's funny, when I first got into DW, I thought it was obligatory to ship the Doctor and the companion. The massive age difference and inter-species thing didn't get to me at all.

Then someone told me their theory that the reason the majority of the Doctors companions are young girls is because they remind him of Susan. Which I eventually saw was kind of true with Viki, and then Dodo...And ever since then the thought of the Doctor having sex with any of his female companions squicks me out. 0_o And there are a couple of pairings that a small part of me wants to ship but I can't get that theory out of my head (whether it's valid or not) to get past it. :-/

Thankfully it hasn't put me off any Doctor/Companion slash pairings though. ;) Two/Jamie, Nine/Jack - you're all good.

I think personally I'm more with the 11/Amy friendship.

But I totally understand shipping something only in a PG way. I don't know. It's just like sometimes you think characters would work together so well but you don't want to think about the sexual stuff.

I don't really think of the Doc as being much of a sexual being, so I agree with you.

Unless it's Five/Turlough, Four/Sarah Jane, Four/Romana or Six/Peri, in which case... my headcanon says they went farther than PG ratings.

Then again, I could talk for literal hours on my theories on the Doctor's intimate connections with his various companions, and on the sexual physiology of Time Lords and such, so really just don't get me started. xD

tl;dr Yes. I agree with you. Even if I don't actually ship Eleven/Amy in anything more than a bromance.

I have a similar thing where in my default headcanon, the Doctor is pretty asexual where humans are concerned. It's not a hard squick--well-written fic can sell me on the idea of things going beyond a bit of kissing--but there is that moment of cognitive dissonance.

...actually in my default headcanon, the Doctor was asexual full stop until I saw The Sound of Drums and instantly shipped all the filthy kinky fucked-up Doctor/Master in existence. But I remain more-or-less convinced that the idea of having sex with humans just doesn't occur to him. (Not that this stops me from shipping Nine/Rose/Jack like burning, it's just that Jack may or may not have succeeded at talking/bantering/provoking him into metaphorical wink-wink nudge-nudge "dancing.")
