Me too, and "Elephant Elephant" always gives me the giggles ^_^ I had problems with "Sandy Fishnets", though - it's not really graphic enough to set off my own squick (for some reason my usual shota/loli squick doesn't seem to apply to songs, as I also love the Decemberists' "The Chimbley Sweep"), but the bridge ("What will they do with us / When they are through with us? / Sandy, what are we sailing for?") got stuck in my head shortly after the death of my childhood favourite author, as his books focused heavily on pirates as well.

I'm very split on this issue. On the one hand, I think artists should be able to create any characters they want, and I don't think they portrayed Evelyn Evelyn in a demeaning way. On the other hand, dressing up like conjoined twins is a little much.

Also, if something offends you, it's generally a good idea to not watch/read/listen to it. Just a suggestion... I find it works for me.

I think I phrased the secret badly. I realise it's meant to hit hot buttons, and I recognise that it is offensive to many people without exactly being offended by it myself. Personally I think the story's really cool even if it does set off my squick, and that the characters are not, contrary to the complaints, being portrayed as "helpless" (they're 100% self-taught musicians and managed to escape from two of their four abusive home situations with no outside help, most able-bodied people couldn't do those things), but I am rather creeped out by the "dressing up as conjoined twins" thing. Not enough so that I'll stop liking the music though.

First, LOVE them.

Second, I don't really get how they are still viewed as offensive now that the "story" of the fictional duo is out and it shows that they are far from helpless. Yes, they dress up as conjoined twins, but how is that different from an actor who can walk playing a role in a wheelchair?
