No, it isn't. It's well-known that fandom is used as a coping mechanism for many individuals who have an amazing variety of difficulties in meatspace. It's always been that way, full stop.

And while not everyone in fandom has problems, I don't begrudge those who are happy and problem-free. I DO begrudge people who bawwww about not having problems, as if the rest of us were something to envy.
