But really, my main point was, a character turning dark (whether that means evil, or just, like, a vigilante or whatever), isn't always a bad thing.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS. Go Gabrielle :D 6 season her is just.....so far from 1st season her, in a good, developmental way.

I definitely think I loved her transition most of all because she changed so very much but retained the same core of who she was at the beginning; strong and willing to sacrifice herself for what she believed in.

And that is what's missing in so many character arcs - keeping the core of who they are. A lot of shows just seem to change the characters to by the end of the series they have zero resemblance to the first season. Gabrielle is definitely one of the few who were done right. (Wesley from Angel the Series is another excellent example.)

Wesley was the other one I was going to mention. I feel like Gabrielle always had Xena to bring her back from the dark side and Wes indulged much more in his dark side because he had no one to temper him. So he betrayed his ideals a few times but but his character arc had it making so much sense that he did so.

I loved Gabrielle's journey throughout the entire run of "Xena", but... the fact that it was not until the Series-Finale, that Xena took the time to properly sit down with Gabrielle and teach her "the pinch," and go for more in-depth mentor things [ex- listening to and feeling the world around her] for a bit, threw me off. Also, catching the Chakram on her first ever try?
