How is that oppressive? I'm honestly asking. I work very hard to eliminate kyriarchical language from my discourse, and I can't for the life of me see how a pun/portmanteau on "amigo" is oppressive, particularly if it's used as a generalized term for "fan," and not, for example, to refer specifically to Spanish-speaking fans. And even in the latter case... that just doesn't seem problematic to me, at all. If you think it is, I'd be genuinely interested in hearing why.

I'm not Hispanic or a native Spanish speaker, so this is coming from an outsider perspective: My first-gen relatives frequently refer to Hispanic people as "amigos", like as an informal demonym, and it definitely has a kind of pejorative connotation when they use it. But like I said, I don't know if any Spanish speakers use it to refer to themselves as a group.

No. The answer to "is Misha Collins being serious" is "no" 99.998% of the time. He is just the snarkiest, driest person ever and that's all there is to it--but he's also quite smart and aware of the world, so I really don't think his seemingly offensive comments should ever be taken literally.
