I barely use my LJ these days, but I gotta ask why the OP should. Aren't journals for, y'know, the people keeping their journal? If other folks want to squee about something in their journal (which, presumably, people other than OP read), then that's what the journal's there for.

OP has the very simple option of just...scrolling past it.

ofc they shouldn't have to. "could"'s more appropriate, but I wasn't thinking too hard on the meaning here or considering this to even be a serious thing.

Also, yes, scrolling is much easier. Even without the context, I think OP's making a problem where there actually isn't one, especially if they think they have to bite their tongue or else get "mobbed" by friends.
