As for the InuYasha fandom they all took the whole love triangle way too fucking seriously. The InuKag people never even attempted to understand Kikyo's feelings and the InuKik people just don't get that InuYasha and Kikyo didn't HAVE that super deep wonderful love they think was there. Takahashi herself noted it was mostly puppy love that came from them understanding each other and that it was InuYasha's stepping stone to learning to trust people.
I love Kikyo and personally I think InuYasha was way too immature for her. I ended up hating the series after being invested in it for a long time, and one of the many reasons was I could never figure out why any of the shippers gave a crap about InuYasha anyway. He was a two-timing dumbass.
