A lot of people on my f-list and just people I talk to about fandom in general like shows I don't. I think a lot of my interests generally go with other interests for most people, and it can be just really annoying when you like one of those things but not the other. I KNOW I LIKE SOME SLASHY ANIMU FANDOMS, BUT DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT HETALIA, GUYS D:

But, uh, it makes them happy to squee over those things, and you probably have interests that they don't share, either. You might roll your eyes when they talk about ponies, but some of them might skip over all your posts when you're talking about [some thing you like goes here, I don't know]. If something's popular and you're not in on it, of course you resent it a little. But instead of putting your energy toward hating the ponies, find some new LJ friends who are really into the stuff you like.

Also, calling it "lynching" is... uh... you DO realize that word is related to some horribly racist history, don't you? It's just ponies, nobody's going to actually hurt you over it.
