As a female with a Northern English accent, albeit a subtle Lancashire one, this is slightly depressing that the male voices are considered sexy.

I guess it's because it's seen as having a manly, rough quality or something? I doubt many men would want to see that in women....(I'm not saying northern women have manly voices though, that came out wrong :'D)

I'm from the north as well, but I guess most people find the stereotypical southern accents better. A lot of my friends don't like our accents, which is a bit of a shame really.

Believe me, most men with Lancashire accents I've heard (most of the men I know) don't have a manly, rough quality. They sound like farmers.

Maybe people like Southern accents better because most people hear Southerners a lot?
