I prefer Sims 2 too. My computer can't handle 3, but also new traits didn't make characters feel as well rounded as when they could have either slight or extreme traits and different combinations of them. Creating new sims and places and decorating your house took too much time in 3.

Then again I played 2 with expansion packs, while 3 didn't have yet any when I tried it. It was more difficult to make silly looking sims in 3. (It was impossible to make good looking male sims in 2 without fanmade mods, but that just reminded me that I play it especially for laughs.) For some reason, now I kind of miss 3 and feel reluctant to start playing 2 again. IDK why. 3 has fun elements and I'm in love with its potential. Personality system just should have "make it lame/extreme" options, and switching between different sims could be more inviting.

In 3 I enjoyed playing as someone who wanted to be a professional author and just wrote awesomely titled books, receiving variant paychecks and reactions from other sims. And I had a crush on cYcLoNe SwOrD but he got married to neurotic male nurse from next door.

In 2 I enjoyed about everything. Playing was less complicated and you could forget more easily achieving and just sit back and build it your world.

I don't get the "taking other people's opinions personally" part. Then again I haven't followed reviews and other comments about Sims in internet.
