I feel the same way. I think it's because I like the fics where I try to do things that differ from more popular scenarios/recipes/etc. but those popular scenarios are by definition...popular.

Yeah. That's how it goes.
The best fic I've written (in my opinion) has 2 comments. The one I really don't like all that much and have come to notice a lot of flaws in has over 100.

Same here! I guess it's because people prefer fluff over plot, but I'm prouder of my stories that have more of a plot...

My most popular and well known fics are some of my worst. I really wish people would read some of my newer, better stuff. I don't hate the older stuff, but I know it really doesn't warrant the audience it has.

I can sympathize. I got a lot of reviews on fics that make me so sick and ashamed I wish I could go back in time and erase them
