there is a common misconception that everyone who is in fandom has devoted their entire life to their fandom. they can't live without it, etc

but it's okay to attach deep importance to fiction. a little indulgence now and then is good for you. and there's nothing wrong with being into drawn porn of 4-year-old puppies snorting adderall off of each other's tits, so long as no animals are harmed in the process.

basically, fantasy =/= reality and fantasy is healthy. not being able to understand that must make your life kinda boring.

PS: Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up. --C.S. Lewis

read some of the secrets a little closer next time.

many of them DO talk about how they have devoted their entire life to their fandom.

many of them DO talk about how they can't live their life without it.

the fact that so many of you are writing these huge ass long counter arguments that YOU are OMG SO NOT LIKE THAT AND FUCK YOU SECRET OP MAKER is really proving their point.

you care so much about what someone else is thinking about you on the internet that you have to defend your own behavior?

that's pretty sad, right there.

but it's not "sad" that you took the time to write a huge long ass letter to people on the internet whom you will never met and whose lives shouldn't matter to you at all?

whateva, whateva, i do what i want
