Except for the part where fandom provides opportunities for you to practice things like continuity and character development with original material to check yourself against, and the ability to get almost instant feedback, before you try to create your own universe - unless, of course, you just see writing/drawing/whatever as a hobby and like to share your work with people and improve your skills for the sake of improving your skills.

And the part where you meet people who become good friends that you can talk to about anything, fandom-related or not.

And the part where real life is just as bad about ostracizing people for differences of opinion.

And the part where people who get off on the things you mentioned in fiction generally don't go out and do horrible things to people for their own sexual gratification.

And the part where you read fandom secrets even though apparently you hate fandom.
