This seriously pushes my RAEG buttons so hard. You can't apply traditional concepts of canon to these games, they're specifically designed to defy that. And all the promo materials are made out-of-house anyway. Or am I supposed to believe that the DA:O Sacred Ashes trailer is the "canon" and everything that actually happened in the game is some sort alternate universe?

It really is a retarded argument, I won't disagree with that.
The way I see it, the promo material is just there to show us some of the options that are available in the game. Obviously they can't show every possibility. It's not a reflection on what is considered to be canon imo.
