DO you mean that the shows themselves are a waste of potential when they could have had better writing and/or acting, or that the characters in the shows are usually shown doing things that are wasting their potential as people?

Like, they're just dumbed down and/or trashified (or whatever) so as to try and attract more viewers, because the creators/writers/producers don't think as many people will watch them if they're made more intelligent or classy? Because if so IA -.- It's kind of sad how---well, I don't want to be too harsh, but I honestly think a lot of shows aimed at teens are just pretty much worthless. They're clearly written with the idea in mind that the watchers are dumb as dirt, totally self-centered, and only interested in sex all the time. I wish there were more shows out there that would encourage their watchers to be their best selves, rather than validating bad behavior and/or character traits. So many of those shows seem to have the message that selfishness is the way to go.

Yeah, really. It seems like there are lots of good, more original ways the writers can go with their characters, but they end up instead focusing on sex, cheating, and nothing else, making all their characters unlikable, but somehow popular.
