I think anon is saying that now tv series only have season long arcs?

oh, reading comprehension fail!
I like the season long arcs tbh, I find that I'm more invested in shows that do have a season long arc than shows that don't.

I like season long arcs, I just want every episode to have a plot independent of the arc as well, and for that plot to be concluded in 45 minutes (or 90, if you're doing a two-parter). Not this every single episode is a cliffhanger thing.

I like both styles, but it depends on the show, really. It's mostly used in sci-fi shows and there aren't exactly many of those nowadays but the ones that are do use the monster-of-the-week method, it's just that sci-fi shows don't get much attention like, say, glee or the big bang theory.
