Holy crap, so much betrayal! Gothel falls in love, the Queen finds out about the immortality flower and is horrified and leaves her for the King and then later betrays Gothel and gets her husband to steal the flower from her? And then Gothel steals her ex's kid and raises her as her own child? It's... it's like a soap opera backstabbing plot! It's brilliant!

Ahhh this needs to be written, omg!!

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-16 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Mother of God, we just gave Tangled a convoluted, melodramatic backstory. This is too good to not be an actual story. km,asnfluisadn /spazzes

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-16 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
And, holy crap, it fits perfectly and adds so many layers of melodramatic angst to Rapunzel's history. Cuz clearly being stolen from your parents by a crazy quasi-immortal woman wasn't enough to mindscar Rapunzel properly!

Ahhhhhh! /joins in spazzing

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-16 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Even better, imagine the Queen eventually feeling so guilty about the layers and layers of betrayal that she eventually sits Rapunzel down and explains their entire past to her, and all of the details about her connection with Gothel that weren't apparent to anyone else... and Rapunzel's reaction to it all, realizing that her mothers were really just trying to spite each other out of heartbreak!

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
omg omg omg that is brilliant and amazing! Rapunzel finally gets a semi normal life and then WHAM all the horrors in her life is not cuz she was special, but because her moms have issues.

Self worth - destroyed! Everything she knew about the world - twisted!

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think my favourite part is that, in the end, regardless of breaking up they still technically had a child together.

Wondering how the King would feel about all this mess... Do you think he'd know?

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. So deliciously angsty and twistedly romantic. In a sick sense.

Oh man, the King! I didn't consider him at all... hmmm... either he could be oblivious and Rapunzel accidentally breaks the news to him (which leads to marital strife between him and the Queen) or he could have known all along and... huh, I can't think of anything suitably melodramatic.

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
~They were fated to be connected forever~ despite how many times they fucked up or screwed the other over.

I think we'd first have to decide if Gothel and the Queen were open about the relationship or secretive... I mean, Corona could be any other homophobic fantasy country, or we could pretend that lesbians were somewhat accepted by the general populace.

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm... secret lesbian lovers is way more melodramatic than two women dating. And if they were openly dating in the past, everyone in the kingdom would know about it - gossip about royalty is the best kind of gossip, y'know - and then the citizens would easily connect the salacious dots once Gothel was outed as Rapunzel's kidnapper. Though Rapunzel is quite naive and it's unlikely the gossip would reach her ears.... More screwing with Rapunzel there - everyone else knows that she was just a pawn in her mothers' starcrossed love.

Hmmm.... So many choices! Which one maximizes the drama potential?

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
... I like the idea of them being secret lovers, and then the King taking an interest in the Queen, who tries to dissuade him gently because she's in a secret relationship, and then she finds out about Gothel and freaks out and is like "AHHH NO I CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE YOU LIED TO ME" and accepting the King's advances. The King is completely oblivious, maybe just thinks they're friends... and the more I think about it, the more I do like the idea of Rapunzel accidentally spilling the beans to the King, and him being like "wut."

Or maybe him finding out some other way?

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Secret lovers and oblivious suitor King, yesss!

Hahaha the King's dumbfounded '...wut?' face after Rapunzel goes on a big spiel to him, spilling out her guts about her conflicted feelings about her mothers machinations... omg, it'd be brilliant! And he'd be all hurt and sad and then Rapunzel will feel guilty cuz she just ruined her parent's marriage (and kinda accidentally helped kill the woman the Queen loved).

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
And the King would be like "SO WAIT IF YOU BASICALLY HADN'T SCORNED YOUR EX LOVER SO MANY TIMES THEN SHE WOULDN'T HAVE STOLEN OUR DAUGHTER?"

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
And then the Queen would be all "IF I HADN'T, I WOULD NEVER HAVE MARRIED YOU AND WE WOULD NEVER HAVE HAD A DAUGHTER!"

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
omg omg omg.

So what if say, the Queen, knowing that she was dying and the flower could save her, had written to Gothel or something, asking for her help, and Gothel had just been like "lol bitch please" so the Queen got all ">:|" and that was why she betrayed Gothel's secret. Because that adds the complication: If Gothel had helped her and taught her the song, then she wouldn't have lost the flower permanently. When I saw them making it into a tea instead of singing to it, I was like "do they realize that the flower isn't one-use only, and you don't have to kill it to get the magic?" But this would explain why they didn't know exactly how to use the flower.

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear lord that is brilliant! So, so brilliant! Cuz I couldn't figure out why they had to kill the flower either - such a waste of magic awesomeness! And to make it kinda Gothel's fault... hahaha yesssss!

Man, we really need to cowrite this or something. It is way too epic to contain it just to a thread on f!s.

(But right now I have to run down the street begging people for money for the cancer society. Real life beckons, noooo!)

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
... Dude. Duuuuuude. Dude. I... I think we do.

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay! This. This is happening. And it's going to be brilliant.

...

How does cowriting even work?

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Mutual discussion of plot events, assigning different scenes to different people to write, combined editing forces to integrate writing styles... it's not as hard as it sounds. Do you have an Instant Messenger? Cowriting involves a lot of discourse, and IM is the best way to do that online.

I've cowritten a fic before. It was really fun. xD

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The last time I cowrote a fic, I was fifteen and it was a self insert (multiple self insert - we included all of our friends) Harry Potter fanfic and my co-author lived a minute away from me. We basically just wrote silliness with no planning or foresight and it was spectacularly bad. But so much fun!

I have many accounts at many different instant messaging services. Weeellll, no programs installed atm, but that's an easy fix. Whichever service you prefer, I'm fine with.

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha! I was fourteen. It was... an unabashed smutfic, more or less PWP, and though I am positive some of the sex stuff is appallingly off, it was pretty well written considering my cowriter was fifteen and similarly inexperienced. I find it funny that I wrote a whole bunch of porn as a young teen, and now as an adult I write almost no sex, and when I do write sex it's a far cry from explicit. Oh, childhood.

AIM would be the best for me. My screenname is Judo Creature. Big shocker, that.

Sweet merciful crap! Is there anyway you could add me to this note of yours? Because I really want to read this as well... >___>

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-04-19 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Haha yup, I'll be sure to tell you if/when stuff happens.

(Oh... oh god. People really do actually want to read this.)

Coolio ~Danke. ^_^
