There are similarities, yes, I'd never deny that. But I feel like the overall goal is so different. It makes more sense if people are talking about the first book alone, but I'm used to thinking of it as the introduction to the war instead of the story in itself.

I've never heard that Collins Can Do No Wrong, to be honest. Everyone I know who enjoys it thinks that Collins Does Quite A Bit Wrong, Actually. Haha! I know I certainly do. But I loved the characters enough to enjoy it all. I often disliked Katniss as well, but I thought that was interesting about her -- she wasn't an ideal heroine.

They tend to be the same people who act like five year olds if you don't agree with them. And a couple of people who are so used to being The Ones Who Know Everything that they are rudely dismissive. Every fandom has them, and I seem to attract them like mad. I don't have time to go digging to find a better match for my interests/tastes within the fandom though, so it's the price I pay. It can definitely be funny though when the opinion I expressed and was dismissed out of hand a couple of months back suddenly becomes The One Truth That People Obsess About. *laughs*
